Asus is one of the world's leading manufacturers of computers, as well as of the hardware found within these amazing machines. The solid design and high-quality hardware used in their gaming laptops shows through in products like the Asus G73Jh. This model is one of the mid- to high range gaming laptops on their site built for the day-to-day gamer. The hardware used may not be the best on the market, but it still packs plenty of power for most casual gamers.

There are a few pieces of hardware that are much more important than others on a gaming machine, specifically the graphics card, memory and processor. The Asus G73Jh uses an ATI Radeon 5870 graphics card, which is more of a mid-range card. The ATI Radeon 5870 comes with 1GB of memory and should have no problem running most games on the market. However, if you're looking for a laptop that will be able to handle future games, a mid-range card isn’t the best choice.  

Intel constantly releases new processors for both desktop and laptop computers. Since everyone wants the latest and greatest in hardware, it is easy to see why Asus decided to go with the new i7 series processor to power not only this model but many of their other models as well. The core i7 720QM has four cores and eight threads in which information can be transferred at speeds of 1.6GHz. You will be able to handle even the most demanding games without worrying about a lack in memory.

The Asus G73Jh has a 17.3-inch LCD screen, which is ideal for those looking for a bigger screen but still want portability. The slightly larger size is ideal for hardcore gaming, but this machine is slightly larger and heavier than some of the smaller gaming laptops. Another feature that makes this gaming machine ideal is the use of Windows 7 Home Premium as the default operating system, which runs like a charm on this laptop.  

Asus designed a website that is easy to navigate, and it's even easier to get your questions answered through their online support. The support page includes a community section, driver downloads, technical support and much more. Getting in contact with the company over the phone is the best way to get more complex questions answered. However, the site contains enough information that we found little need for additional help or support. We would like to have seen a live chat feature for those who need a simple question answered without spending time browsing the company's site.

The Alienware M18x is the largest gaming laptop this company makes, and as such has the room for additional memory, better video cards and overall better hardware. With 6GB of RAM and a high-end video card and processor, this gaming laptop will have no problem running even the most demanding games on the market. The system is rather heavy and comes with a bulky design that may turn off some gamers. However, hardcore gamers looking for raw power over portability will understand why the Alienware M18x received our TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award for overall.
